Healthy Hump Day

Weight Watchers, Body for Life, South Beach, 3 Day Diet, Green Smoothie Diet, Slim Fast, Hot Hips & Fabulous Thighs, The Cabbage Soup Diet, 21 Day Day Fix, 2B Mindset… these are all of the “diet programs” I have tried over the years. They all worked! Until I stopped. Has this happened to you?

To me, maintaining good health is a journey. It’s not a straight line or one stop solution. It’s totally okay to have completed multiple weight-loss/management programs. The human body is very smart and as you have probably experienced, if you follow the same program for a long period of time your progress reaches a plateau.

Congratulate your self for not giving up and for making your health a priority. My general rule of thumb when it comes to health and fitness is to do everything in moderation with consistency. Yes to lose weight and tone your muscle you will have to work harder for a period of time, once you achieve that goal you can chill out a little but remain consistent.

Typically we follow a program for 21 days, 6 weeks, 12 weeks, 80 days etc and then we reach our goal and feel AMAZING! Then we start to reward ourselves (a donut here, a few wings there, a slice of cake, waffle fries, chocolate chip cookies) which is A-OK because Girl we earned it. The trick is to reward in moderation (one treat a week), continue to maintain consistent physical activity and healthy/clean eating. I often hear, “I tried X program but it didn’t work because I lost the weight but it all came right back”. Wrong! The program worked, it was the actions that followed that didn’t work.

We know that “lose weight fast” loses weight fast but it doesn’t set you up for success. I promise if you incorporate consistent exercise and healthy eating into your day, you will see lasting results.

I am on a journey to be actively aging. In 30 years, when I grow up, I want to be like my 80 year old Aunt Betty in California, still dancing and living life to the fullest. Do you want to join me on this journey?
