I was a junior in high school and had no idea what path I wanted to pursue in life. A race car driver, train engineer, teacher, accountant, lawyer were careers that were of interest to me at the time. My classmates were chatting about a school program where you only had to go to class for half a day during your senior year. SIGN ME UP! Who knew this one decision in life would shape the rest of my career? I filled out all of the forms, took the typing tests (yep back then you had to pass a typing test for employment) went on the interview and then waited.
One day a letter from the Office of Personnel Management came in the mail stating I had been selected for employment. Whoo hoo! This is when the fun began.
In September of 1986, I started my senior year of high school. In October, I started what has evolved into a 30+ year career with the federal government. Over the 30+ years I have had amazing and rewarding opportunities and once in a life-time experiences. I hope you find my journey, insight and stories in my my blog posts useful and entertaining.
